Music Afternoon in Helsinki: city walk and Sibelius Finland Experience concert (4-5 hours, 88€ per person)

A Helsinki activity for music lovers! First a three hour guided city walk with music program showing you the main sights of Helsinki and after a half an hour break Sibelius Finland Experience piano concert  in National hall.  Enjoy music samples and listen to interesting stories not only about the places you see but also about the music you hear.

Helsinki City Walk with Music is a 3 hour sightseeing experience. This guided city walk will take you through the main sights of Helsinki while listening to some of the best music Finland has to offer. Your guide will give you both insights of Helsinki as well as a deliberate selection of amazing music from Finland. You may dance on the way and sing along or simply enjoy the music quietly. Each participant has his/her own stereo headphone and receiver. You can tune the volume up or down as you wish.

Jean Sibelius  ( 1865-1957) the national composer of Finland and his works give an insight to Finnish identity and its formation. As a composer he presents the late Romantic period. The core of Sibelius’s oeuvre is his set of seven symphonies.

Like Beethoven, Sibelius used each successive work to further develop his own personal compositional style. His works continue to be performed frequently in the concert halls all over the Globe. He is one of the most recorded artists in the World. His masterpiece Finlandia is played and sung every day in some part of the World. Jean Sibelius is historically and internationally the most famous Finn. His works inspire composers, conductors and touch every day thousands of people. The relation to nature of Finland and its people is tangible.

Sibelius Finland Experience  is not only a concert but also a cultural experience for anyone wanting to learn more about the Finnish mind-set. Sit down conveniently for an hour to listen music in the heart of the city by the Senate Square with easy access. The show suites people in all ages. Children under 12 years have a free entry with accompanied adults.

The inspiring 45 minute concert presents Finland and Finnish identity. It is a high-quality live performance by some of the best musicians in Finland in co-operation with the world famous Sibelius Academy and supervised by Professor Erik T. Tawastsjerna as an artistic advisor.

We welcome you, your guests and family to Kansallissali to experience the sound of violin and grand black Steinways on the scene. The narrated performance is a visual composition of beautiful images of Finland and selected graphic illustrations by Erik Bruun, Professor of Art and Design. His award winning graphics guide every person to the source of inspiration, to the Finnish nature.

MUSIC MORNING IN HELSINKI: CITY WALK AND SIBELIUS FINLAND EXPERIENCE PIANO AND VIOLIN CONCERT

Guided tour: facts and stories about Helsinki in English served together with samples of Finnish music from classic to pop, kantele, tango and rockcello, each participant has her/his own stereo headphone and receiver

Moderated violin & piano concert: compositions Kuusi, Finlandia, Romanssi, Rondino and Valse Triste by grand piano and violin

After the concert you have a chance to meet the artists and have a drink.

  • 13.15 End of concert, time to meet the musicians, refreshment
  • 13.30 End of program
  • half an hour break OR tour right after the concert
  • 14.00 Welcoming of the group at Three Smiths Statue in front of Stockmann  Department Store, handing out of audio equipment
  • 14.10  City walk begins. You will see Senate Square, Uspenski-Cathedral, South  Harbour with Marketplace and Presidencial Palace, Esplanades, Train  Station, Parlament Building, the Rock Church, National Museum, Parliament  Building. Kiasma and one surprise building.
  • 17.00 Arrival at the Senate square, end of tour
