This is the center for arts, culture, religion, politics, and education and a show place for neoclassical architecture. This unique square is dominated by four main buildings designed by Carl Ludvig Engel between 1822 and 1852: the elegant Lutheran Cathedral that celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2002 is the most famous and photographed building, the main building of the University of Helsinki, the Government Palace, and the National Library of Finland.
We will come back via Unioninkatu and stop at a special fountain with the statue of Havis Amanda, the symbol of Helsinki.

From there we will finish our tour on the popular Esplanade Park, fondly referred to as “Espa” among locals. It is the most famous park in Finland and the green heart of Helsinki. People come here to see and be seen, to listen to music and watch
